Inn to Inn Adventure

A two day self guided adventure of exquisite fun in some of Maine’s most spectacular mountain scenery. Paddling level is moderate. Although designed with weekends in mind (Friday – Sunday) weekdays work well too Perfect for families!

Agenda:

Day one:

  • Check in to The Philbrook Farm Inn just over the border in New Hampshire. This is a gorgeous, old world, family owned inn.
  • Have dinner and relax in this charming atmosphere.

Day two:

  • Breakfast
  • Meet Bethel Outdoor Adventure representative who will have canoes, maps, lunch, directions and all technical gear.
  • Paddle to Bethel, lunch on the way (provided). Fish if you like. Stop on an island and swim or enjoy the wilderness and the wildlife. Read poetry. Watch the Osprey or the Eagles. Keep an eye open for moose.
  • Take out at our convenient launch site, check in and be driven or stroll to your chosen hotel. Your clothes and overnight bag will be waiting for you.
  • Hotel options:
    1. Norseman Inn or The Inn at the Rostay. You will be on your own for dinner and breakfast. Restaurants are within walking distance.
    2. Sudbury Inn. Fine dining – full bar – in town location
    3. Bethel Inn and Country Club. Fine dining – full bar – swimming pool – recreation room - golfing Enjoy a leisurely shower, relax in the bar, and have a well earned meal.

Day three:

  • Back to the river for the final ten miles. Here the river is more serene and pastoral, yet scenic, exciting and attractive as it winds through farmland with the Mahoosuc mountains as backdrop.
  • Take out at the town landing of Hanover, where your car will be waiting for you. Check in with us, and drive home, full of relaxed memories of paddling and wildlife and beautiful scenery.
